Soda blasting will give a nice finish and not remove as much metal as sandblasting. It also has the big advantage of being water soluble which mans much less risk of getting something embedded in a valve or slide.

Various blasting media with give you different colors ranging from greenish to bright brass. For a true satin brass finish I like to use glass beads. Zinc oxide does a good satin finish but the results will be greenish.
