Looking for info on this horn

Anyone have any info about this horn? Model#, are new versions available?, potential value if repaired, worth repairing? Thinking of repairing it for student use.

I have a friend that has one like this. I'm not sure what the model # was. The 4 valve version was model 11. I think Bob paid around $600 for his. Good sound for what they are. Good student horns.

Meinl Weston, It used to be a convertible marching horn. We have one at our elementary school which we bought from a local music store who had bought a number of them from the West Chester University Marching Band and got rid of the convertible stuff and just made them upright concert horns. We bought it back in the late 80's /early 90's and still have it. I see you are from Montgomery County. I am in Berks County. Loser's Music store in Lebanon PA is the store that bought and sold them, if I remember correctly.

The only issue is that the mouthpiece receiver is a bit small, not quite as small as the old British receivers. A regular mouthpiece will fit but it sticks out farther. not a bad player btw.

Looks like a very long stroke for a small bore instrument.

Upper Dublin HS in Ft. Washington, PA had 4 of those convertibles in the 1970s as the only alternative to a sousaphone.

Wasn't able to open the dropbox, but it sounds to be the Meinl-Weston model 10, if it is a 3-valve model. They were well-enough built, and if the mouthpiece receiver is replaced with the Allied Universal tuba mouthpiece receiver, everything will fit and it would be a good student model instrument, particularly for a middle school.

I think that Meinl-Weston was still offering the models 10 and 11 in the recent past, and some have also been sold under the "Accent" name.
