Congrats to You Alan Baer on your recital this evening. You played with amazing control and it is obvious why you have as much success as you do. I really enjoyed the repertoire you chose for your recital, and I thank you for giving me the opportunity to play on your amazing Miraphone 281 "firebird". The horn is amazing and you sound spectacular on it. Thanks again, and good luck on your recordings coming up. -Joe

Edit: it was also good to see some fellow tubenetters there as well as living ledgends like Jim and Tommy.

as far as I know it was not recorded. I was refering to his recording session coming up. I believe he is going to be recording many of the pieces on tonights recital very soon. So maybe you can get a hold of that later.

What a wonderful recital! The church had a glorious reverb, and Alan couldn't sound any better. This new CD he's coming out with is going to ba a must buy for tubists and musicians the world over.

Alan Baer plays the tuba with style, grace, and power, and his musicianship is top notch. I was enthralled from the first note to the last. His accompanist was also very nice. The Miraphone prototype that Alan was playing had a fantastic sound. It sounded like a Rudy Meinl in the high register and a Yamaha down low. I have a feeling it's going to be a big seller.

A very special thank you to Big City Alan Baer for tuning up my ears and bringing some low-down tuba magic to the San Fernando Valley.

It was an amazing performance, and oh the pressure he must have been under with an audience of tuba players (and tuba legends) with ears for tuba, but there were no faults to be heard. His tone was wonderful, and his mastery over the instrument made me completely forget about anything technical and actually I listened to the music as a whole for a change. When he blasted his first really low note he looked around with a surprised grin because it sounded so awesome in that hall. We all had that surprised grin from start to finish.
