What do you mean? Is there a symbolic message in this sentence?Mark wrote:School is out for the summer.

I will say that I got a very nice PM from LTrain about his situation. There is a lot more to the story but its his story to tell, not mine. I will say with his situation I see why he was critical and would have agreed with him wholeheartedly if I had known the details. I appreciate him reaching out as it was a nice thing to do.

I liked the 191s (4 valve) that I have been able to get my hands on.
I liked the Eastman copy for 1/2 price twice as much!!

I think it's more the "owned by a school" part that's important, not the original build quality of the tuba. Depends on the school district. Many do not take very good care of their instruments, or just have students that don't. Having seen Dan Oberloh's overhaul of two 186s, it's really amazing what schools can do to good instruments.bloke wrote:Post-1980's Miraphone tubas may be considered "school" tubas in uber-wealthy *states such as Texas, but not everywhere.
My high school had two monster 4 valve top action tubas that sat in big Wenger Tuba stands, so they wouldn't get dropped.
