New South Wales band championships on brassbanned.com

Post by GC »

http://www.brassbanned.com will livestream the New South Wales band championships this weekend from Penrith, NSW, Australia, a bit west of Sydney. Schedules are on the web site. There are two halls running the contest:

Saturday, August 24 – Hall 1
9:00am – Open B Concert
12:15pm (approx.) – Open D Concert
4:00pm (approx.) – Open A Concert

Saturday, August 24 – Hall 2
9:30am – Open C Concert
11:00am (approx.) – Open A & B Brass (Hymn and Test)
2:00pm (approx.) – Open A & B Brass (Own Choice)

Times are 14 hours ahead of US east coast EDT, so 9am Saturday is actually 7 pm FRIDAY on the east side of the US. This means contests can run overnight, depending on the schedules and numbers of bands.

Brassbanned is run by a tuba player from Australia named Handsome Tim. His broadcasts are totally free, so there is no storing or archiving. When they're done, the broadcast can be rewound for about 4 hours, and then it's gone. Sound quality is generally excellent with headphones or really good speakers; typical computer speakers won't cut it.
