Re: Elephant Christmas Quintet Collection

I'd like to publicly thank Wade for his generosity in providing these arrangements. Our community orchestra opened the Christmas concert yesterday with three Elephant arrangements, each played with tuba, three bones, three trumpets, and two horns, each section using discretion limiting players on exposed solo parts. I know it sounds like it could be a royal mess, but with excellent players all around and a few tweaks we kept all involved and it worked. Bass bone needed something to avoid three bones on one part, so to my initial chagrin he doubled the cool tuba parts. For this reason after our only run through I decided to take higher passages in Greensleeves and Wenceslas 8vb for a better blend. The Fantasy on Greensleeves came together in a major way and was a highlight for sure. Fortunately for the other pieces without Tuba I was able to either snag bass parts or in the case of the Bizet piece, double third bone. Bizet gave the third bone on L'Arlesienne the best parts of the three and, although admittedly not true to style, it was a blast to double. Thanks again Wade!

I’m playing these for our quintet’s annual appearance at the local grade school coming up this week. Thank you so much for providing these!
