Hi everybody, I hope you’re all safe in this tragic moment.
This post is to share with you a recent purchase I made on eBay, a Martin 33 mouthpieces that was is a really awful condition, but it got it restored from a friend of mine.
Here’s the result.
I was a little skeptical at the beginning, because being it such an old piece I thought it would have been good for a museum only, but once restored I tried it on my ‘83 2341 and I was surprised how good it sounds, and how precise it is.
I come from a Corp. 24aw which I find perfect on my other tool, the Besson Eb, but on the 2341 I think it has a too large throat; so I was searching for a similar piece with similar rim ( good for my mouth shape) but with a slightly smaller throat and a little more of a V shape, but not too much because V shapes imho gets the sound too poor.
Martin 33 was a real discovery, it’s deep enough (I think more than the 24aw) but it’s not large so it focuses the sound on one point and nothing goes lost.
Best wishes to everybody
