I'm sorry I never knew him as a tuba player, but only as a conductor. I had the pleasure of singing the solos in Beethoven 9, Verdi Requiem, and some other things when he was conductor of the Washington-Idaho Symphony Orchestra. He was a fine musician and a great guy. Wish I'd heard him play tuba!

I was at the John F. Baker Founder’s Recital this last Saturday and as I was waiting for it to start, I thought about Keating. He was a really nice guy and I missed him not being there.
