It obviously needs to stop, but (well...) stating the obvious "triggers" quite a few, these days, so I should have just copied/pasted some nugatory utterance seen elsewhere...oh yeah...and clicked on an emoji hugging a heart.

I find there is a wealth of knowledge, both good and bad. I try and combine it all to inform my own playing and fill the gaps which other sources have left.

Quite right. It is too bad the first few years were not archived. Although there was a format change, not much else of the mid-90's Internet is still up and running!

I originally came when I was looking for my first horn back in college. I continue to browse the "for sale" forum for fun (I've bought several things from some great people over the years). I also learned (and continue to learn) about repairing my own horns. But it was here that I first saw that you could build tubas from parts of several tubas! Now I'm hooked on that. Thanks internet...

Because of like minds. Damn hard to find. I've been around for a long time but can't even tell you how long....well before this forum style. I liked it when you could see who was posting on a thread and use that to make the decision of whether to read it. It still feels good even though I can't play any more.

not anymore...
That loudmouthed guy (who owned the store/barbecue place - where I took you for lunch: in between those three antebellum mansions) closed it down for COVID, and he may (??) have just decided to stay closed.
That's not the same place where we went, is it? If so, that's a shame (maybe not the same, because I didn't think the owner was a loudmouth at all - he was very affable).
