I've heard quite a few folks talk about this change making a big difference in the sound of the 321. I've usually heard of the 642 leadpipe being installed on the 321... not a 641 lead pipe. They may be exactly the same - not sure. I play a 641 myself. The bore is .591 on 641's and 642's where the bore on a 321 is only .570. Everyone who's had this done says it improves the sound emensly. As far as how the new leadpipe attaches to the first valve (bore difference), I'm not sure.

BTW, the 641 or 642 doesn't sound like a tuba :? It's a fuller or darker sound than the 321 though.
