Help with research

Post by Tubaru »

I am working on a research project for a college class and thought it would be interesting to try and determine which tuba excerpts are most often asked in the final rounds of orchestral auditions. I would also like to include which excerpts are asked to be performed with the trombone section. Any of you that have audition experience, would you please provide your insight? Please indicate with or without trombone section.

Thank you.

Use the search function.
This has been discussed many times in many ways.
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

I just looked through 1500 posts. Lots of talk about auditions and excerpts but nothing specifically on the topic I am researching. What keywords would you suggest I use to find final round excerpts and excerpts asked to be performed with the trombone section?

Just a suggestion.
You may need to try several different ways.
I just recall over the years people even selling lists on how often an excerpt was asked for and when.
Try the names coming up for big jobs (and where they'd have the whole 'bone section play) and asking them.
Remember for big gigs sometimes the "finals" is playing playing with the orchestra.
Try the Trombone sites!

This is the normal answer here unless you have 10,000 plus posts.
Don't take offence, it's not just you.
