Mouthpiece recommendation for EEb Tuba
Sorry if this is a duplicate. If any of you play an EEb tuba like the Besson 983, what mouthpiece do you use when you play in large ensembles with big BBb and CC tubas?

Re: Mouthpiece recommendation for EEb Tuba
Two traditional mouthpieces that have been used are the Wick 3 or 3L (depending on the receiver size) and the 24AW. Personally, I have used a Bach 22, but then again, it is usually in the context of other BBb tubas in section. Many of the "standard" mouthpieces used for BBb will work well, if by large ensemble you mean you are providing the foundation, and are not just one of the section.

I like the Bach 18 on my Besson 983.
Have heard others say the G&W Baer MMVI works well for that, too!

I have a Boosey Imperial Eb and I use a PT88 if I need to imitate a Bb.

Playing my Besson 981 I changed after years with the Kellyberg to the Houser/Sellmansberger Imperial. With a british shank (going into the receiver until the last mm) it is much louder than with standard shank , as my wife agreed at the first test.
Meanwhile the Besson is replaced by an Eastman 853 Eb, the Imperial is still the mouthpiece for heavy work.

Re: Mouthpiece recommendation for EEb Tuba
I have played a B&H Imperial or Sovereign EEb for more than 30 years, mostly along side BBb horns.
The duration is given to say I've had plenty of opportunity to switch.
I have played:
Denis Wick 3L for 4 years
Vincent Bach 24AW for 25 years
Perantucci PT-65s most recently
The darkest and silkiest sound came from the VB, but range and note production was hard work.
You takes ya pick

I use a Wick 2SL on my 983. It's a little shallower than the 2L, which brightens up the sound and makes flexibility a little easier for me. I've played it in brass band, wind bands, and even small orchestras.

I have a large F tuba, a Willson 3200, that's very similar to Eb tubas in the way it plays. My latest mouthpiece choice is the Parker Titan with the Sellmansberger #2 rim. I'll likely give my thoughts on it after spending more time with it.

I've an old Besson 14 mouthpiece that gives my Holton EEb tuba and York EEb sousaphone their roundest, most Bb sound.
Assuming that's what you meant.
