Nylon rotors?

Never seen nylon rotors before. Are they good? are they trouble free as the regular rotors? Thanks!
PS. just saw the Hirsbrunner at Dillons site,..so I wonder about it!

Plastic expands faster than metal in situations were heat is prevelant. They stick, badly. Been there, done that. It's a pain.

My experience with plastics pretty much tells me that Nylon would be a poor choice for any parts that have to maintain a precision fit in a wet environment. Nylon will absorb moisture and swell. Delrin or an engineered plastic like Fortran might be a better choice. Aside from that, I wouldn't want anything any softer that brass as a moving part in a valve. If the Hirsbrunner rotors are indeed Nylon, I think they are making a mistake.

My teacher has a Hirsbrunner with the Nylon valves, and in his summer concerts he's done this year, he's had to play his Yamaha F on some pieces so he can put an ice pack on his valves to try to get them moving again. Otherwise they're fine, but in this case it seems to be a big problem.
