I'm trying to get together a pickup dixieland street parade band to do some fund raising for Katrina relief. I'd like to parade around the tailgaters on football weekends (with a Red cross volunteer) and solicit donations.
Does anybody know of, or have recomendations for, some marching size dixieland arrangements suitable for 4-8 players? We'd really only need 3-4 pieces as we will be on the move. It has been suggested we could be used to lure people to a local relief fundraiser, ala the pied piper. Again, likely on a football weekend when all the Alumni are around
If not marching size, then some decent regular sized arrangements that I could shrink down to portable size. The sit-down dixie band I play in uses a bunch of arrangements by Severson which are not bad, but I'd like something else. I'm the only one from the regular group who is interested in parading, and the leader doesn't like to loan out the music.
Thanks for your help

J W Pepper has an octavo-size booklet titled 'Dixieland Beat' that my group uses quite a bit. Books are available for clarinet, trumpet, tenor sax, trombone, drums, piano, guitar, and bass.
There is also another 'Dixieland Beat' publication by Zep Meissner on the Pepper web site that is a full-sized booklet.
Both sets of books are reasonably priced and quite playable with a pick-up band.
