Prokofiev 5 full part

Post by phoenix »

I bought the Cherry Classics CD and they don't have Prokofiev 5! Does any one have the full part that they could send me or know where I could get one?

Thanks in advance

I know the book is quite rare, but if you can get ahold of a copy, Torchinsky's 20th century excerpts book has a great copy of the part. It includes the vast majority of the part and is not just the standard excerpts. In fact, I believe he simply omitted sections with long multimeasure rests for the most part.

The advantage with this version is that it is much easier on the eyes than the original (which is horribly handwritten). And it includes that quarter rest in the 1st movement between rehearsal numbers 3-6 that is erroneously omitted in the original.

Other than this, I would imagine that there would be plenty of opportunities to get the part from collegues or Mr. Harry at Eastman. Just ask around.

Kalmus sells individual parts to everything they have in stock, and that's a lot. The price for the brass parts is the same as the price for the string parts.

The Torchinsky books are great but nothing is better than having the part, IMO.
