You need to go somewhere and try them both out, side by side. Everyone here will have their own pros and cons about different mouthpieces. I think it would be best to form your own opinions.

I've owned two Monettes, a "99" and a "2" (original 94).

Initially I was quite impressed...

But...

I soon found that they really cut out the upper harmonics that add (what would call) "color" to the sound of the tuba. I played around with the two of them for months until I realized the only way to get the color I wanted back was to quit using them.

I would describe the sound as "sandy" in that it didn't come off as clear, colorful, or smooth. I've heard the same type of description from several "high-ranking" orchestral tubists as well.

I also worried about the serious damage it could do if you dropped it on your horn, it fell out, etc., etc. Those suckers are heavy!

I used a Monette 94 on my RM-43 CC for a while. It felt really good, played even, but I ended up switching back to my Dillon G3 because everyone who listened to me said my sound was much more interesting on the Dillon. I then swapped my 94 for a 94F, which I played on my B&S F for about a year. It was a good improvement from what I was using before, but even after playing on it for so long, I never felt comfortable on it. I recently tried out the Baer F mpc from G&W and promptly sold my 94F. The Baer was much more open, balanced sounding, easier to play, and my pitch was better. I've tried the 98 on a couple horns, it seemed way too dark for any practical use.
