I have both instruments and yes you can, although the 1240's upright bell is a bit tight, it does fit.

Even more fun is putting a bell from a King 2350/1250 sousaphone on a King 2340/1. You get a howitzer recording bell tuba, although it can be a challenge to see around the bell. I did this when I owned both a few years ago just for grins.
