I am posting today to thank all of you tubenetters for the wonderful support and enthusiasm for the recent premiere of the Samuel Jones Tuba Concerto. Being able to do run-throughs in front of a receptive audience was invaluable for me and I appreciate your time spent listening. The press went well beyond the call of duty and I could not have been happier with the reviews. If you happened to attend one of the two concerts and enjoyed the piece please take the time to write an email to Seattle Symphony at seattlesymphony.org and let them know. I have been told that there are plans in the works to record this piece and any positive feedback from the community can only help get the Symphony management behind this. Thanks again to my "ears" Mark Wiseman, Mike Lynch, and everyone else and WILLIE CLARK for being patient, I'll call, I promise.
One last thing, I have comissioned a new sonata for tuba and piano by a well known composer and he hopes to have it completed around September of this year. I will keep you informed as it progresses.
Finally, I get to relax and enjoy life(beer) again.
All the best,
Chris Olka
