I guess I won't say "duh". I can honestly say I have never heard it. I was 30 years old in 1968 and immersed in raising a family, being a slide-rule toting aerospace engineer and shunning heathen music for "The Old Rugged Cross" and the real "In the Garden". What else did I miss?

You didn't miss a whole lot, Van. I played that tune in bars until it slid out of the top 40 and then from that time on played it by request only. I also found the song to be tedious-night after night.
This left room on the tune list for tunes like: "She Came In Through the Bathroom Window" and " Don't Wanna Bump No More With No Big Fat Woman" or anything by Chuck Berry or Joe Tex. There was always room on the song list for "Teeny Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini" and "The Streak". Boogity boogity!

I do remember the yellow polka dot bikini - the song, that is.
