It looks like the Hirsbrunner Eb pictured on his web site. I don't think the new Miraphone Eb was available when that was recorded, unless in very early prototype form.

A couple of answers

Hi,
The instrument you hear on the video tape is a synth. Illegal? Of course, but that's what makes it fun! It's actually the same guy playing the rythm loops. I recorded a studio version of the tune this year with Swedish Wind Orchestra. A full symphony orchestra version is most likely recorded in January.

As for the tuba, the video clip was made with my good old Hirsbrunner e-flat from 1981. Since I only play e-flat, and the Firebird is an F tuba, I don't play that. It's a good horn though... No, I play a smaller Miraphone e-flat tuba that was developed parallell with the slightly larger e-flat; Norwegian Star. My solo-baby is in production as of... now, and is called Star Light.

By the way, tune in your public radio to "A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor", live from New York on Saturday Dec 9, or Dec 15. You should be able to hear Fnugg there as well. Date not set but will be announced in a day or two.

Thanks! Sure sounded like a flute or synth. Not playing in BB, I didn't know if anyone would ever sneak something in like that. ("no -- it's a new brass instrument called a Klaviphonium -- it plays in all 88 keys .... ") Thanks also for posting the updated info about the Norwegian Star and Star Light on your web site. Thanks also for the Keillor tip!

Hmmm, sounds like Keillor is going to have a tuba month. Gravity is scheduled to play on PHC Dec 8th and 9th in NYC. The 9th being the broadcast performance. I've had to find a replacement for Velvet Brown as conductor for our local TubaChristmas scheduled for the same day. She just found out last week about the gig. She actually asked if it was OK to back out of conducting. To me it was a no brainer - she'll be playing in NYC.

Well, it'll be easier on you, because it'll be MUCH easier to see the downbeats... :D
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?
