I played this on piano for my second-to-last piano proficiency course. I have a hard time picturing it on tuba - who did the transcription?schneidah wrote:My pick is Schumann's Fantasiestücke, op. 73. Sounds great on F or C, and is just chock full of beautiful lines.

Floyd Cooley did a rather nice transcription.MartyNeilan wrote:I played this on piano for my second-to-last piano proficiency course. They're different pieces, actually. Op. 73 was originally for clarinet and piano; Floyd did a transcription of it, as Tom noted, and recorded it (on A Schumann Fantasy). There are several other pieces Schumann composed under the title Fantasiestücke (or Phantasiestücke); op. 12 and 111 are for piano solo, I think, and op. 88 is for piano, violin, and cello (at least according to Northwestern's library catalog). There may be others, as well; I don't know Schumann's full catalog too well. All the Schumann works Floyd put on that same album, though, are pretty gorgeous.I played this on piano for my second-to-last piano proficiency course.
