I remember some ceremonies we did in Berlin, Germany, where we didn't get that much snow, but we had a worse problem:
It would be nice and warm (about 26 degrees Fahrenheit) during a change of command ceremony when suddenly there would be a sudden wind change and drop in temperature (20-20 degrees). It was OK when we were playing in place but once we stepped off, the wind would hit our valves (and the trombone slides) and everything would freeze up. It was like playing valveless bugles.

I remember that too, except it was the 4th MAW Band, and the 90's (not the 60's)TubaTinker wrote:I remember one day back in the 60's marching with a Navy band in a Mardi Gras parade dodging flying beer and whisky bottles!

I suppose some things never change.
You'll have that snow cleared by the end of the month, right fellas?

As in "ice skating" or as in the Navy/Marine Corps lingo for "to shirk one's duty"?sloan wrote:But, can they skate?
