Very obvious additive. Isn’t nitride what conservationists put into their sausages to make the last?

Nitrates are what is put into sausages to make them last. Very nasty stuff. I personally try to stay away from any meat that has been processed with them. This means most bacons, sausages, jerkys, etc. However, you can find those meats nitrate-free . . . .

Nitrides are safe. I have the Blokepiece I with the black H-Kote finish on the rim. Very smooth, and a great mouthpiece. I can't wait for the Euro-shank version to come out.

Due to the relationship of the exit hole size to the shank size, ' only planning to offer #2 back part in euro.

Makes sense to me, since that is for the big horns anyway.
I spoke to Dave today, and I will hopefully have my gold #2 top / #1 bottom next week.

I have a tentative quintet gig in an old church downtown next week. I would like to try it out there on my F tuba VS. the organ if I receive it and get acclimated in time.

I just got the #2 cup with the #1 rim (flatter). I'm not using it on a CC, but on a large F, on which I previously used a drilled-out Marc N2. In that comparison, it is far superior. The rim is more to my liking (although I would prefer it narrower and flatter still, and hope Bloke is reading this!). The sound is solid, richer, and more consistent. The low range is better, even though the cup is not as deep as the N4.

That's fine with me. Based on the entrance hole size, shape, and response, I'll get one when they come out. Thanks for making these available to all of us, Joe!

I have a #2 underpart with a #1 rim. Although I bought it to use on my F, after the discussion about using it on a 4/4, I tried it again on my Nirschl. The sound is very nice, although I need to play it in a group to really compare. The high range is very accessible, as you would expect, but I am trying to figure out why the low range plays so well with that impossibly shallow cup.

Parenthetically, the first time I played the mouthpiece, I didn't like it (with both tubas). You have to give it some time, and, it appears, change some habits.

The research continues.

Finally got it. Originally ordered middle of May. Canceled the order middle of July after waiting two months and being told countless times "next week." Ordered directly from THE BLOKE himself (the best way to go) about two months ago. He had to wait for Dave to send another round off to be plated. But now it is mine.

This may very well become my main mouthpiece on the Schillaphone. Clear, very articulate, lots of overtones, very in tune. The Schiller CC tubas are a little darker and heavier sounding and slightly less responsive than their Miraphone 186 counterparts. HOWEVER, unlike many Miraphones which break up into contrabasstrombonehell after FF-FFF (the massive Warburton-Neilan was designed in part to mitigate this Miraphone tendency...), the weighty Schiller will take everything you can throw at it and then some. The ultra-responsive stainless steel BlokePiece seems to be the perfect match for this horn, in that regard.

It is also interesting to note that when I had my 6/4 Martin, I went through a mouthpiece search. The dimensions on this mouthpiece seems to reflect the tendencies of the several mouthpieces that worked best on the enormous Martin, so I have no doubt it would work great on most 6/4 piston contabass horns. I may just have to get another Martin to find out...

Sad to admit so, but apparently I am better in the know about elderly ladies. bloke used Brigitte Bardot as his lure.
