Looks like we may both have learnt something - You an English phrase and me US humor!
At least he didn't say "humour". We'll let "learnt" slide however.

Don't waste your time and money on so-called "instrument" repairmen. This is easily fixed by a local "street mechanic" who does bodywork. He will drill a small hole in the middle of the dent. Screw in a slide hammer, couple of pulls, and the dent is basically gone. Fill in the hole and level to slightly above the surface with Bondo, and then sand smooth. Works like a charm.

Don't laugh! I've had horns in the shop that were 'fixed' that way. And then painted gold to top it off!

Unfortunately for you James, he is nowhere near Texas. Otherwise I'd say "He's the man" (for dent eraser work).
Not to be the spelling Nazi (that job is already taken  )
but it is spelled http://www.tubameister.com" target="_blank
(Google used to want to correct it to bubbameister, but Lee is no longer in Georgia.)
Lee is definitely a good guy to go to.

FWIW, what you are looking at is not major surgery, you should be able to find someone within a few hours drive that you trust to "erase" it.
I will have to remember the cat excuse.

That dent doesn't even look cat-head shaped. I was originally thinking that maybe your cat was doing an archie and mehitable role reversal. (nod and thank you go to Don Marquis!)

That looks like it might be from an unnoticed encounter with a chair. Turning "the wrong way" while seated with your tuba could easily put that dent in the instrument. (bummer)

We are all careful, but at some point, dents are just going to happen. With or without a cat. :)

Just get it fixed up, keep being careful, and keep a good repairman's phone number handy. You'll always need it.

So you got it fixed, and didn't have to pay a fortune. That's great.
Does it play any differently?
Did you notice any intonation issues or response changes that could be blamed on the dent or its removal?

The repairman is giving it for free because he could not get the entire dent out and said the lacquer is starting to peel :(.

I will just find a repair man whereever I do my masters to take the horn apart and fix his error, at least I tried.
You must be terribly unlucky. Cats dent your tuba and repairmen make errors. What have you done to deserve this?
