The Olds has a decent Eb, a passible D but thats about all. I really don't need those two notes cause I've got 4 valves. I do need the C and the false tone is just not there for me. A really experienced false toner, you know, someone who had played a bunch of 3 valve Eb, could probably make it happen, but not me. I really shouldn't worry about it though. I never intend to perform these suites again, I just like to play them for me.

Yep. definitely. I have no idea why BBbs are built with only four.
I do own a copy of the suites (cello version) and messed around with few of them.
I´ll wait until someone pays me to practise and THEN start to dig into them.

There are editions out there for trombone - Eb and F, play at pitch. Bb and C, down the octave.

As for the double stops, I wouldn't have thought multiphonics would work too well in most cases (in terms of maintaining the integrity of the melody). The trombone editions have given this some serious thought and I'd go along with what they have decided.
