What this march says at bar #17 in the trio, is never heard in an American march. And it even takes the brass band version to hear this specific sound. The concert band version adds clarinets and saxes to the split euphoniums, but the effect is less intense.

Thanks for posting. That's a very nice march I hadn't heard before. To my ears, the blend of the tubas, bass drum, and tympani is excellent.

we usually play the oops...other instruments play the pahs....

the pops orchestra I play in has many old theatre orchestrations of Sousa Marches and they are all in the "wrong" key. Stars and Stripes for example is in D and G.

I mentioned John Williams earlier with the Raiders march.

I also love The Cowboys, the march from 1941 and the march from Midway and the Throne Room from Star Wars...
