I found out what we think is the proper German name of the slide handle on an F bass trombone: Schwengel

Kids, avert your eyes.

NOUN der Schwengel | die Schwengel

1. Schwengel {m} [Glocke]
clapper
2. Schwengel {m} [Pumpe]
handle [pump]
3. Schwengel {m} [vulg.] [Penis]
dong [esp. Am.] [vulg.] [penis]

Nothing new to my post, but I've got one of the Chinese Thein copies in F and I'm not far from you if you ever wanna bring a 6-pack of beer over and honk away. I've also got a couple of chimps in the room as well. There's no paint left on any of the walls

I've played a couple of the double-slide BBb contras and they do indeed suck. It's just too much cylindrical tubing, the same for cimbassos in BBb and CC, they suck just as much. As far as your lack of F tuba experience, In all honesty, "contrabass" trombone in F is so weird, I don't think my F tuba knowledge and F cimbasso experience help at all, other than the fact that I have an idea of how to approach the horn as far as air-usage and the type of mouthpiece. The slide positions are all longer than than my bass bone positions and the triggers make no sense compared to trombone triggers or tuba valves.

Unless the conductor freaks, I plan on using my contra on Madama Butterfly in the spring, which will be something new for me. During my time in the opera, I've used bass trombone, cimbasso, and F tuba on Puccini works and the conductor has always specified what instrument they want via the personnel manager well ahead of the first rehearsal.
