Yes, starting today in my city. Yesterday my German Band still held one, but I skipped it (supporting social distancing plus my current retirement gig is driving school bus, don't want to risk infecting anyone). Today, the City of Shoreview (MN) announced it was closing the community center, so no more band rehearsal for them. Our church (a large one) shut down all services and activities for the next two weeks. I haven't signed up to play for Easter services yet. https://vimeo.com/397492354

The MN Governor today announced that he'd like social spacing of at least 6 feet and gatherings of no more than 250 people.

We cannot currently visit my mom in the nursing home either, not even my dad is allowed. Kind of tough after 60 years of marriage.

Many colleges are only online now, K-12 is still open, but events are canceled. The governor is concerned about parents having sick leave to stay home with the kids and the number getting school lunches. A few K-12 public schools were shut down for cleaning for a couple of days, so I'm guessing they could all be shut down next week for awhile (a long spring break).

No toilet paper on the shelves, but I got a great deal on bacon. I still am not doing social distancing with the Autumn the dachshund.

Our Lincoln Community Concert Band has canceled all rehearsals leading up to our also canceled May concert, the season's final one. Hopefully we will be able to resume again in August. Meanwhile I'm going to have to exercise some unaccustomed discipline and practice more regularly here at home.

One band I gig with has elected to continue rehearsals, despite the average age of our membership being in the sixties with several guys in their late 80s.

However, our performance season began late last month and, so far, every performance has been cancelled--sometimes on very short notice.

Use a viola player instead and just say that you heard that s#it won't stick to their horsehair bows... :P
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

I approve of this tack (an individual approach) very much:
We will still continue to have practice on Monday nights. If you feel it is in your best interest not to come, we will understand. The Board asks you to stay home if you become sick. If you are taking a cruise or have traveled out of the country -- on a cruise or to the areas -- where the virus is prevalent in the USA, please do not attend rehearsals for the two week incubation period after your trip.

I keep trying to think of a snappy comeback but can't. Bloke for the win. :tuba:
Our community band has cancelled this week's rehearsal but intends to meet the next week. We meet in a church, so it will be up to them whether to allow it. In related news, our 88-year-old tuba player's assisted living facility is on total lockdown, so if he comes to rehearsal he will be placed on quarantine when he goes home. Our tuba ensemble meets in the theater at his place, so obviously that is out for a while as well.

The city (Markham Ontario) has closed all the communty centres until April 5th so our band has lost our practice space until April 6th. The band has a theatre show booked for May 3rd. I sure hope everyone uses the time to practice their parts.

I've been telling him he's my hero since I met him last fall. He's not our best tuba player, but he is quite good. I tell him all the time that I'll be happy if I can even say the word "tuba" at 88.

Out of the two bands I'm a part of, only one has cancelled their rehearsals and concert until may. The other I've yet to hear anything from but since we practice in a school, I highly doubt we'll be able to go ahead with rehearsal next week.

Same here. All schools and almost all churches are closed, so no band or brass ensemble rehearsals.

Ditto. Community band cancelled next weeks concert and a month of rehearsals. Our big band is still pondering what to do. 1 have 3 gigs in a row around Easter and haven't heard on them yet.

Sequim City Band has cancelled at least the next four weeks of practices. Following weeks TBD. This coming Wednesday was to be the first practice for the next concert so no one has music yet. Take it as is goes.

Get those method books out!

This is a rapidly changing situation. Our band will be discussing it Tuesday evening, but in Virginia, we can no longer have concerts and our rehearsals are a serious violation of new CDC guidelines. Furthermore, as my understanding of the exponential growth pattern improves, the clearer it is to me that we will have a complete nationwide lockdown, probably within days. I'm sure the result of our conversation on Tuesday will be to suspend the remainder of the season, or at least the current concert cycle.

For that matter, being able to hear a tuba at 88 . . .
