Here is a photo of me with the '31/'32 Conn 40K I just bought from eBay. I just got it yesterday! So far, I love it!!! Notice the case for the King 2341 in the background (as well as some components for a pedal board I am making for my bass guitar rig on the school desk). I am trying to convince the guys in my rock band to add in some tuba!

WARNING: This tuba player has been known to get his groove on via bass guitar as well!

I'm jealous.
You shouldn’t be. After all your coiffure takes less maintenance. Just wipe and polish.

I have been looking for a four valve sousaphone forever! I think I got a good deal. It came with a case and shipped free. Worked for me! I really wanted a King 1251 like I used in college, but those seem to be just way too rare. The Conn with a Loud LM-3 mouthpiece has a HUGE sound, and the horn is very manageable in size. I probably prefer the sound over the King I used way back in college (and alumni bands ever since)....but that King was HUGE. I am actually quite surprised at how "small" the 40K is. The "tiny" 24in bell may take some getting used to....or may need to be replaced with a 26! :)

My 40K also has a 24" bell. I wouldn’t want a larger bell, as the present set-up projects well with a very focused sound.

You've got a winner. And she's pretty too! I have a 40K as well..owned it for about 2 years now and I'm in love with it. You can shoot out a window with these horns! Mine is a 1921 model with a 24" original bell. I like the focused sound from the smaller bell but I plan on getting a 26" bell also..just for the projection and presence.

Liked it, but from the video I have to ask: Is this approaching the ultimate in black music?

Sorry about the bad lighting, Klaus.
Making a long story short, we flew from Alabama all the way out to Seattle, Washington to play in an badly lit parking lot. (Fun party, though)

I've posted in this thread before, but not with this tuba, and not in this context!! Here's my MW182, with my brass quintet just before we performed Hornsmoke! (Me as the Rev Tubby Mirum, of course :D)

Removable trunk.

And nicely curled too.

PS:
Packing is a big topic forever here on TN. Here we see a well packed slimline.

Wade, with you and Dylan posting pictures of you/him with your/his 621, I'll HAVE to get a better of little old 6'10" me with my smaller-than-a-621 King Eb. :D
