I love the feeling you get when you are the pedal root of a huge chord and you feel like the entire orchestra is sitting on your shoulders!!!!!
That is what playing the TUBA is all about

Nothing pleases me more than hearing trumpet players trip out when I play their rep better than they do.....

i personally have always enjoyed people's fascination with the tuba...... AND STICKING THEIR HEAD IN THE BELL WHILE I BLAT A BEAUTIFUL NOTE!!

I had a trombone-playing friend who started noodling on tuba for brass techniques class in college.
Within about two notes, she noticed that her whole entire lap was vibrating.
She realized how the sensation, um, felt, and she immediately thought, "Oh, so THIS is why you guys like to play tuba!"

My favorite thing is trying to convince all the horn players in my school that Strauss really did write that concerto for tuba.
