Re: My Never-Ending Tuba Rebuild Thread
As hinted Wade has a repair business with his wife alongside their orchestral positions in the MSO. Their facebook site is here

As I understand it, the woof address goes to Scottye, as Wade by definition is a sub-woof-er.

Lookin good!
I want to do the same thing with a 981-copy body. I'd like to know how the British figured out how to make big Eb's that play in tune.

I don't know much about the history between York and Holton, but boy, your horn's lookin' good Wade!
For a second, as I skimmed your post and looked right to the pictures I thought you were done and had it silver plated already! Then I realized it was a CB-50 photo. Lookin' good!

After they are scrubbed out in hot water and liquid dishwashing detergent to get the ash out of the ash-hole, I drop 'em in pickling solution for ten minutes or so and rinse 'em again.

But how to get rid of the ash in an Ashbory?:

Indeed. It would be great to first know what you want and then have the skills to make it. It is way cool.

Wade, that's a really pretty tuba! I hope you plan to leave it "Gnagey style" and not refinish everything, it looks great already!

What they saidgoodgigs wrote:+1KiltieTuba wrote:Your tuba looks even better in video!
now that you have made your debut please follow up when ready with an audio or video of you playing it.
It looks good enough just to buff and seal it the two tone look is good on it.
Cant carry a tune but I can carry a tuba.

Re: My Never-Ending Tuba Rebuild Thread
Thanks for the video Wade! I haven't had time to watch the whole thing yet, but I'm really glad you took the time to do that! Thanks for remembering me when it came time to do more cutting. As has said before, this has been a great thread Wade. Thanks very much for all the great photos and step-by-step processes! Excellent job!
(I'll also cast my vote for leaving it as is. I am personally a fan of the "frankentuba" look)
