None of them are that good though - they don't have any means of accepting input from a Tuba. You always have to use one of those funny keyboard thingies with the black and white buttons

I am pretty much a Finale addict. I've been using it since I had a trial version in the early 90's. It is easy to use....maybe not the most time efficient...but the interface is cool and it's quite easy to creat a finished looking product.
of course, I now have Finale 1007 and am waiting for 2008 to come in the mail...and I don't think I could ever go without the Garritan sounds that come with it again.......nothing like sending a friend a midi sample that sounds oh so real.
Plus......basically, any program becomes easy when you use it a lot...and since Finale has all I want and more....I have no need to change.

oh so useful!!!!!! But you're missing a picture of a piano...which is my best friend when writing music. hahabloke wrote:I still use the "Archives" system.
It has great tools,
and a reliable "save" mode.

When this thread started three years ago, I said I could do anything I wanted to in Finale. Well, the comments of some other respondents prompted me to try Sibelius. I have been using it for almost two years now, and run Sibelius 90% of the time and Finale 10%.
Part of the reason is that it is easier to remember how to do things in Sibelius. For someone starting out, it should have a shorter learning curve. A more cogent reason is that laying out parts is MUCH easier and quicker in Sibelius. Most of the work is done for you automatically, and only a few tweaks are usually needed.
It is still true that most publishers prefer Finale, but at least some are accepting Sibelius files as well.
