If it was the specimen illustrated, Ike himself hardly would have been able to take it out of his pocket.bloke wrote:I heard that he kept the same Hindemith Dollar in his pocket for over ten years!

Re: Hindemith text
Does anyone have/know of a recording (preferably for free) of just the piano part for this piece, especially the 2nd movement?
There are a few places where I want to hear where the harmonic motion goes and how it all works, but my piano skills are...well, let's just say that it's a good thing I'm not a piano major. I can't really hear the part very well on the recordings that I have either (the parts I'm most interested in are with the solo playing on the downbeats, and where the solo plays on the backbeats).

On a tangent, my band is playing this as well. Do I smell a battle of the bands?

Everyone was so quick to criticize James for his argument. Personally, I was ready to completely dismiss every post that the Shaman had ever made -- posts that I had originally accepted as gospel. I was just losing faith in his authority, but then ...
... But then he goes 100% Rambo on all of us with a blatant statement of his minimalistic genius:
Throw away your Tuba Sonata, get down to Abilene, TX, and take a lesson, Paul Hindemith.

Come back, James!
Actually...what am I saying?

No! No! No! I'm not being facetious at all! I'm sure P. Hindemith was a cheerful and kind fellow (or something like that).
