Cool, but your hard work goes a lot further with a good teacher, and $9 a month is about as cheap as you'll ever be able to find the kind of help that a teacher can give you. Seriously. Do it now. A couple hours dishing ice cream or washing dishes is totally worth it.

Good - I was worried that it would be hard to get those lawn mowing jobs, because the tuba instructors would be competing for them.

That's about what you'll take home from your first Saturday shift. Get going.

I will give anyone a tuba lesson anywhere in the world for ... (pointing pinky finger at corner of mouth, Dr. Evil style) ... one billion dollars. Payable in advance. If you don't have a tuba, I will bring one in my newly acquired private jet.

Ginnboonmiller: getting a job might sound easy to say, but right now there's no time as I need focus on school and make sure my grades are in check.

Yeah, sorry. We just don't believe you at all.

You have the time. What you're missing is the "want to."

Or you can continue to make excuses that no one but YOU believe.

Or you can be honest with yourself and admit that you are full of it when you say you want to get better. Getting better takes a commitment that you seem unwilling to accept. Sorry, there are no shortcuts in music.

If you have a phone *at all* (much less a top of the line one like an iPhone) and you cannot afford the ridiculously low price for these lessons then you are so sad that on one here can help you. You take excellent advice very poorly and make excuses right and left. If you were in my studio you would have been dropped after your third lesson, because for many years of experience I *know* that those lame excuses will be present in your prepared material, too. Figure it out, man.

How do you think most of us took lessons? Were we rich? Were they given to us? No. We all got jobs and worked, all the while keeping up our grades. You are rich compared to my family when I was in school. It is sickening to hear you whine about money when you have a freaking iPhone.
+1

I lived on my own at age 17 and I managed to get private piano, voice and tuba lessons. I flipped burgers and did dishes. I gave up my Nintendo and practiced. If you want to be a musician, you have to make SACRIFICES. Wish I had a different answer. I don't. There isn't one.

The phone hasn't even been updated for 3 1/2 years.....? It's not like I update every time a new one comes out.

I'm thinking about getting rid of it (ie. NOT replacing/upgrading) and just using a "throwaway" phone.
People could call the shop number, and Mrs. bloke could give them (if an important call) the number...
...and I could still make (only important) calls.

Texting is disabled, btw.
Bet that pic's taken with your iphone
