Hi Frank, Here are some Alexander catalog pages that will be interesting to you if nothing else. Dr. Jeff Baker once owned a smaller Alex F that was quite an interesting tuba - and something I've never seen before or since. There is a lot of myth to sort through regarding Alexander tubas. One of the myths is the 164 Kaiser BBb being cut down to make a CC tuba. Alexander has been making CC 164's for well over 100 years. My 164 is quickly becoming my favorite - and I own two excellent 163's. Alexander tubas take time and patience, and any weakness in one's playing will quickly be discovered by an Alex. The 164 magnifies this truth and far too many discount this model all together. Tubists might consider their own flaws before blaming their equipment.
