Tubist and horn in Met's 9/11 Verdi Requiem

Post by royjohn »

I've been watching the PBS broadcast of Verdi's Requiem from the Met tonight and I just wondered who the tubist is and what instrument they might be playing to support this orchestra and a chorus of what looks like about 110 singers...a long way from the original scoring for ophicleide, I guess...

Chris Hall played his Eastman 836 CC tuba for Saturday night's performance.

I kinda thought it might be something bigger than the 4/4 he supposedly auditioned for the Met job on...that chorus was huge and the soloists rather formidable...
