Gig bags for Martin recording bell tubas

Post by Paul Scott »

Some exciting news! If any of you have a Martin recording bell tuba and have wished for a decent gig bag, it's here. I just received mine from Messina Covers of Louisville, KY. The quality is very much on a par with my Cronkhite bag and the body bag will work for either side or top-action tubas, (it also has straps for carrying as a backpack). The bell bag fits recording bells up to 26". They tell me the bags are now available for order and there are some nice color options- I chose "forest green".

Many thanks to Martin Wilk for facilitating this project with Messina.

That’s great news. I am currently working with David on doing the same thing for my King 2341 recording bell tuba. And Martin Wilk is assisting by loaning David a King 2341 (along with my tracings and measurements) in getting the best fit possible. I’m guessing that my upright bell (being smaller) will also work with the bell bag which will kill two birds with one stone. Pictures?
