Just wondering how often you guys see 5V Eb tubas such as Willson 3400 FA (and the compact one, I know its rare), and Miraphone Norwegian Star.

I previously owned a MW2141, great horn and I see them up for sale for $5,500-7,000, so I can answer my own question.

I’m actually pretty sure I bought your old MW 2141. Great horn but it needed about $400 worth of dent and soldering work to solve a bunch of issues. Once that was sorted out the horn really lit up! I’ll post something about it later. Anyway, I think you’re pretty spot on with regard to price.

I think 5V non-comp Eb’s have a few main problems: There weren’t many made in the first place, those who buy them hold onto them, and not many people want to buy them, so they tend to sit on the market for a long time. The MWs tend to sit around the $5000-$5500 mark, along with the Miraphone horns, while the very few Willsons I’ve seen for sale are more around $7000.

I'm glad it's treating you well!!! Being 100% honest, I miss that horn, but life happens.

I've never met a Miraphone Norwegian Star owner who was not in love with it....but they come up only rarely, usually when the owners have no choice but to sell. I've seen a couple in the $6k range, which is quite a steal given the new price.

I was curious about used tubas at Mr. Tuba and here's what the website says: "We have hundreds of used instruments – the list changes frequently. Please email for more information". . . . not terribly helpful.

Mr. Tuba (Mark) website isn't that helpful, I agree. But Mark is a great guy and very helpful. I have visited his place, though. It is a warehouse. In the front of this large building is his workshop. Most of the building is filled with tubas. Mark is a specialist in tubas, especially European non-compensating horns. I would suggest emailing with your requirements and ask what he has in stock. Here is my FB post when I tried a few Eb's at his place (all new). G

FYI... There is a Yamaha 381 for sale on this forum. (Or is it the other forum?...)

The 381 is a 321 with a 5th valve installed on the 4th valve loop.
