Tubachris... it sounds like your are having a time working with midi files. I don't think Finale Notepad will load a midi file... at least I couldn't get it to work. Try using Noteworthy. I tried loading the Tequila midi and it looks and plays just fine. You probably still won't be able to print it but at least you can hear it and view it on your computer. Here's a link to the free download:

Finale Printmusic or NotePad Plus will handle MIDI files, but you have to cough up a couple of bucks. FWIW, I think that PrintMusic is a great deal in that you can do full scores with part extraction and add just about everythin gyou need to them, without shellin gout the big bucks for the full version. I am currently using PM to orchestrate much of my school's Christmas program.

Try Midinotate. There is a free fully functional version available to download and use for 30 days. If you want to use it after that, I recommend that you use Date Cracker. It resets your clock back however many days you want while it's loading a program that has only a certain amount of days to use it.

Date Cracker: http://www.softpile.com/Utilities/Secur ... index.html

Hope this helps!!

Oh, and I forgot to mention, you can print and even extract the parts.

Are we advocating software piracy now?

Just asking.

Good point. If it is good enough to use and the manufacturer has given you 30 days free with it then buy it. If everyone steals it then the manufacturer will go out of business and there will be no upgrades etc.

Actually upgrades are exactly the problem I have with Finale. Every upgrade of Finale has bugs that make using it difficult; then you have to buy the next upgrade to fix the bugs, and of course the new upgrage has new bugs in it. I honestly think they do it on purpose, to force you to continue buying the upgrades. I've about had it with Finale. There are things that just "won't go" on the mac that I had no trouble with at all on the PC, and I thought Finale was originally a mac program. Phooey on it.
