A tenor tuba in c. 4 piston/1 rotor. Maybe a main tuning slide gadget. Largest bell that would play up to pitch. Maybe made in china to keep cost down. For American style tuba players to use for high orchestra, teaching studio duties, etc.. with the idea of easiest possible transition from cc tuba. We already have f and c to keep in shape.Maybe slightly less curvy learning curve? Would conductors or colleagues be more accepting if it looked like an orchestral tuba? Maybe expand use to midsummer nights dream and petruska instead of just bydlo? Your thoughts?

If you've fiddled around with trombone much, Bb euhphonium shouldn't be such a problem. If you have a non-compensator, some guys put on a dependent 5th valve off of the 4th valve tubing. Also, why not investigate the 6 valve 'petite French tuba' in C that Wessex makes.

I’ve had euphoniums and they aren’t a problem. Just not what I would ideally prefer. Just seeking ideas. Keep ‘‘em coming

Several years ago I owned a 4 rotary valve euphonium in C that was made by Cerveny. It was shaped like a small tuba. While it helped me keep my C chops in shape it wasn’t the greatest instrument. It wasn’t bad either, just different. Still probably would not have used it for Bydlo or anything else soloistic but was good for mass tuba groups.

Bernie Pitkin (if I remember his name correctly) used to be a regular at the Army Tuba Conference until the Covid hit. He had (has?) two Marzan front-action four-compensating valve euphoniums, and he converted one of them to C. It can be done.

Yes, that would be great. I wonder how the intonation turned out?

Update: I found a traditionally wrapped euphonium, same model as Bloke has spoken about recently, that I think will fit my needs and within budget. Big gold brass bell, beautiful made by b&s. I think it will work fine. I still don’t think my idea was dumb, but horn just does exist and would be pretty expensive to make. Thanks for the input.
