Sounds like yet another twist on the old B.E.R.P. from the 1980s. Supposedly RT says you can perform with one of these installed in the mouthpiece, and that it can work as a mute substitute in a pinch. I would think this would simply give you a smaller, thinner tone that is muffled, rather than the metallic, buzzy tone of a good mute. I already own a "bad" mute that makes the tuba sound like you have a cardboard music folder over the bell, like "bell in stand" for trumpet, which is a lot cheaper than this "system".

I am unconvinced.

I think I'll wait to purchase a set of these until after "all the other kids on the playground" have done the Beta testing and seem to like them.
