A few questions;
1. is there a way to get a 5/4 hirsbrunner that has piston valves or are those discontinued/didnt exist in the first place?
2. Are the hirsbrunner 4/4 CC options good and which one is best?
3. How does one purchase a hirsbrunner tuba?

They’re no longer made. Adam’s bought the tooling and makes a couple Hirsbrunner models now.

There remains a website and an active email which they will respond to: http://www.hirsbrunner.com/lang/engl/in ... index.html
But, as Theodore says, Hirsbrunner have not manufactured tubas for many years and Adams did buy the tooling and are making tubas: https://www.adams-music.com/en/adams/brass/tubas. These are Hirsbrunner but tweaked, I understand.
Hirsbrunner bought in their piston valves, I believe, from a Swiss valve manufacturer.
They do come onto the market to buy "used", but not that often.
I did come across Palladium Music in Italy a retailer that had bought some of the remaining stock directly from Hirsbrunner before they closed their doors. My interest in the "as-new" HBS 488 fell at the last hurdle.

There is a professional musician in The Netherlands, who owns a bunch of used original Hirsbrunner tubas. He restores (or has them restored) and sells.
His email: riesschellekens@gmail.com.
