Old Sousaphones at school

Post by CooperBayliff »

Does anyone have an idea why the old beat up sousaphone at my school is ORANGE. like almost as orange as the actual fruit, still a little shiny due the the fact its made of metal of course. usually old lacquered instruments look kinda tan so i figured it couldnt be lacquered.

It might be worth noting that a few years ago we had an incident where students from another school filled all the sousaphones up with water totaling like $7,000 in damages.

King instruments from the 70s/80s (maybe earlier) were made with an orangeish/gold-tinted lacquer. Ugly as heck.
