Two different Questions

Okay, a while back, I saw the Summit Brass Live. This was like 10 years ago, and they started the concert with a piece which started with Gene Pokorny (pretty sure) playing this huge low note (pedal D or something?). Trouble is, I can't remember the name of the piece. Any ideas?

and for my second question...
Everyone knows the benefits of playing outside. It is good for your sound and all. But, is it just me or does playing your horn outside make you tired faster? And if so, why? Trying to fill a bigger space? just curious.

Thanks...

May have been Watermusic/Handel (if memory serves me correctly), and I think it may have been Ralph Sauer's setting.
