Practice Advice/Advanced Method Books?

Post by Somarithedark »

Hi tuba hivemind,

Lately I've been thinking about finding new method books to further my practicing. I am primarily looking for some advanced exercises that cater to flexibility and articulation development. I am a recent undergrad with a performance degree who's only been regularly using the trombone arban, the brass gym and bordogni/rochut volume 1 for my development in fundamentals for the past 4 years. I am at the point where I am practicing these exercises at different octaves, dynamics, tempi, etc. but I'm looking for some concrete "difficult" stuff that's already printed out.

My question for you (especially pros): What are your recommendations for method books that can absolutely push your abilities to the limit? Do you use your own exercises, or exercises that can't be found in our standard method repertoire? I am also open to hearing any advice you have regarding practicing at a high level.
"Shouldn't we all be practicing right now?"
