It was a thrill to perform in Chicago on June 11th, the birthday of my teacher, Arnold Jacobs, Principal Tubist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for 44 years about whom seven books have been published. I played at Chicago’s Old Town Art Fair on Sunday, June 11th and also at the nearby Riverside Arts Weekend the day before. Mr. Jacobs, the greatest tubist ever, loved jazz, and encouraged my jazz activities.
The Old Town Art Fair, Chicago's original art fair since 1950, takes place in the heart of the charming Old Town Triangle Historic District in Chicago with 220 nationally-acclaimed artists and 15,000 art lovers. Started in 2008, the Riverside Arts Weekend features a juried arts fair, music, design and other arts-related events in historic downtown Riverside.
