Professional Bb tuba for rent NYC

Post by Chris Olka »

Hey folks, I’m trying to help a friend out from Spain. He’s the tubist for Teatro Real Opera House in Madrid. His orchestra will be in NYC for their tour and he needs to find a large rotary Bb tuba for the concerts. He plays a MW197/2 and would like something of this caliber if at all possible. Dillon Music won’t rent one to the orchestra. Anyone here know of a lead I could pursue on his behalf? Please reply here or send me a PM or email.

Thank and best regards,

Chris,

I am just seeing this post now. When is he in NYC and how long does he need it? Maybe this happened already?

Mike! Thanks for your reply! He needs it at Lincoln Center on October 16. Maybe a day before or after. I’m not entirely sure. If you’ve got something, please let me know!

Rental of European horns is especially tough these days. I tried to find an MW F in April for the tubist of the Hamburg Philharmonic for their Carnegie Hall debut, and struck out. They ended up having to ship at the last minute. You might inquire through Peter Harper, the low brass expert at https://www.jlandressbrass.com/about.htm

I have a 5 valve 6/4 BBb Cerveny that is a spectacular. Formerly owned by James Gourlay. If there was any way to get it to NYC from Ohio I'd lend it out.

As much as I like road trips, I don't think I'll be making that one right now lol. I AM thinking of driving into NYC for TubaChristmas, though!
