What a wonderful and rare tuba, also very interesting article and background information - I enjoy reading your blog!
It seems that Alexander still continued their pre-war design elements at least into the 1950s. My pre-war (mid/end 1930s) BBb shares the valves and bell/kranz design as well as the very thin brass. While sound of course is always a matter of taste and also somewhat player dependent, the intonation is competitive with any modern kaiser design.
