Hi Everyone -
One of our school's trusty old Miraphone 186 (1971) tubas has a broken rotary valve. Does anyone know of a source of used or new valves for these tubas?
Or... are the old Miraphone valves compatible between different tubas? We have an Miraphone Eb (similar vintage) that no one is probably going to use any time soon and may be a candidate for donating a valve to the 186.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Miraphone valve compatibility/availability
The 183 has a smaller bore than the 186, so they are not compatible.

Thanks for this, Easy Mac - saves me the trouble of digging the Eb out of cold storage, buried somewhere in the Music Department basement!
Hopefully someone has a source for a 186 valve.

Re: Miraphone valve compatibility/availability
I wrote to Miraphone and was able to get a replacement valve for my 184-4U.
It was years ago, but contact the factory. It was a perfect replacement, and I still use the horn!

Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

Both Allied Supply and Badger State Repair handle some parts for 186 tubas.
