Anybody know the tuba part for the Walton Viola Concerto?
Is it a fun part to play?
TIA!

Re: Walton Viola Concerto?
Well, I can now answer my own question…..
I found that the part is surprisingly interesting, considering it is a viola concerto!
You don’t play much with the trombone section (some stuff with the bass trombone, though). Some active licks, and of course lots of rests. An interesting point is that the tuba does not play in the endings of any of the movements.
Over all, it was a worthwhile piece to play.
